Experience

Thirty-three years of experience primarily engaged in a general business law practice in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts including bankruptcy, worker's compensation, real estate, foreclosure, creditor's rights, business law, and real estate development. Client representation experience includes contract default disputes, foreclosures, employer disputes, contract enforcement, asset recovery, divorce and family law, landlord/tenant matters, leasing, disputes, zoning and land use, and environmental compliance. Former Vista lawyer, consumer law practice from 1974 defending clients in collection actions, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and consumer fraud cases, and housing complaints. Represents real estate developers in matters valued up to $75 million. Represented city governments and is a legal consultant for European companies. Experience also includes representation of commercial and consumer clients before State and Federal Department of Public Utility Control, Transportation, and various administrative agencies. As investor, experienced in real estate development, housing, and construction law matters. Former Connecticut worker' compensation commissioner (per diem). Small claims hearing judge in over 100 cases between 1977 and 1993. Member of the Governor's Housing Task Force. Distinguished Service Award, The Republic of Italy, 2003; Rank of Cavaliere, Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, House of Savoy, 2004. Adjunct Professor, Real Estate Law, Southern Connecticut State University.

Alternative Dispute Resolution Experience

Since 1988 served as AAA arbitrator in approximately 75 matters, involving issues of liability and damage allocation of up to $40 million. Also individually arbitrated real estate matters and construction matters. As panelist, arbitrated major national franchisee disputes, banking issues, employment disputes, partnership buyout disputes, fee disputes, several consumer cases, contract disputes, and attorney fee disputes. Chair in a major partner/auto dealer dispute and real estate valuation case.

Compensation

$245.00 per hour for claims less than $75,000; $275.00 per hour for claims exceeding $75,000. Study time and telephone conference time will be charged. Travel time will be charged with travel expenses and lodging to be billed at cost. Cancellations of less than 24 hours notice will be charged one 8-hour day.
